South Seattle College Offering Online “On-site Hospitality Certificate” Starting April 2018
South Seattle College will start offering a fully-online, short-term On-site Hospitality Certificate program starting April 2018. The 18-credit program prepares students for careers in the on-site hospitality industry.
On-site hospitality spans several careers areas including foodservice operations and employee-centered activities such as event planning. Dedicated professionals are needed to deliver a world-class hospitality experience to employees on tech campuses (such as Google or Microsoft), university campuses, assisted living facilities, and large office complexes and headquarters. Common on-site hospitality positions include chefs and executive chefs, event planners, catering operations managers, café managers, foodservice directors and more.
The On-site Hospitality Certificate was developed through a partnership between South Seattle College’s Hospitality Management department and the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM), a nationwide association supporting foodservice and hospitality professionals.
The program is an ideal fit for those interested in joining the hospitality industry, or for experienced professionals wishing to take their career to the next level or expand their job opportunities. Each students will have built-in opportunities to connect with SHFM member companies on-site, where they can learn firsthand about career pathways and company culture and values. Credits may also be applied to a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management through South Seattle College. Designed for students who have completed their associate degree or equivalent, the 18-credit program may be completed in as little as six months.
