A New Breakfast Dining Option is Rolling Onto Campus!

'Wich Came First Food Truck

There’s good news for hungry Otters! A new early-morning dining option is set to roll onto main campus this week offering savory breakfast fare and a full-service espresso bar to satisfy your coffee cravings!

The ‘Wich Came First food truck will be available on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and Thursday, Feb. 22 in Clock Tower Plaza from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., serving up coffee, egg sandwiches, breakfast bowls and hash browns for students, faculty and staff.  They will determine a schedule weekly after that initial visit, and you can view ‘Wich Came First’s schedule and menu here.

Food trucks offering lunch will continue to operate on campus Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ‘Wich Came First will complement South’s existing portfolio of dining options. Check out the list below to view all the food service locations at South.

Dining Options at South

Otter’s Den

The Otter’s Den is South’s full-service food court offering a variety of options for breakfast and lunch. Located in the Culinary Arts Building (CAB), the Otter’s Den serves a rotation of breakfast and lunch items cooked to order or served from the hot line. There are weekly specials to compliment classics (including burgers and fries made from scratch, and breakfast staples including eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage). The Otter’s Den is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The deli also has you covered with grab-and-go items including sandwiches made to order and a great variety of specialty salads and food items. Many salad and sandwich items are prepackaged and available for take-out.

Alhadeff Grill

The Alhadeff Grill, located in the Culinary Arts Building (CAB), provides upscale dining for students, faculty, staff and visitors to the campus in a bright, airy environment. A variety of starter and entrée courses provide numerous choices for a delicious lunch. During Winter Quarter 2018, South welcomed Chef Instructor Josh Young as the new Head Chef. Aldaheff Grill serves lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Pastry Kiosk

To showcase the talent and skills of our pastry cooks-in-training, South’s Pastry and Baking Arts Program operates a full-service European-style pastry shop located in the Pastry & Baking Arts building (PBA). From 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. weekdays, the Pastry Kiosk cases are filled with a variety of breakfast pastries, cookies, French pastries, tarts, quiche, cakes, and artisanal breads. All are hand-made, from scratch, under the watchful eyes of our experienced faculty and support staff.

Stop by before class or on your lunch break for a quick snack, or pick up a fancy dessert for your weekend dinner or party. We also have a rotating menu of savory lunch specials, as well as premium bottled beverages.

South Seattle College Bookstore

South’s on campus bookstore, located in the Jerry Brockey Center (JMB), is a great place to grab a snack or beverage before or after class. It is also your official source for textbook rentals, new and used textbooks, eTextbooks, textbook buybacks, school supplies, South apparel and much more!

Daily Lunch Food Trucks

In partnership with the Washington State Food Truck Association, South has invited local food trucks to campus Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., located in Clock Tower Plaza. Each week a rotating list of local food trucks arrive on campus, serving everything from traditional lunchtime favorites to unique cultural dishes and snacks. Students, faculty and staff can view which vendors will participate on a daily basis by visiting the WSFTA website.
