Tomatoes, Flowers & More: Spring Arrives at South’s Garden Center

Spring is springing in Seattle, and there’s no better place to embrace the season than at South Seattle College’s Garden Center! Whether you're looking for lush outdoor flowers, vibrant indoor houseplants, or an abundance of vegetable starters, the Garden Center has everything you need to kickstart your garden this season.
Nestled in the Puget Ridge neighborhood of West Seattle, the Garden Center at South Seattle College is more than just a plant haven—it’s a hands-on learning hub for students in the Landscape Horticulture Program. Here, students gain real-world experience in plant care and retail. By supporting the Garden Center, you are supporting our students’ goals in pursuit of careers in the landscape horticulture field.
Now is the perfect time to start your tomatoes indoors or in a greenhouse! Choose from a variety of tomato plants, including San Marzano, Roma, and Green Zebra, alongside a wide selection of other vegetable starters like eggplants, peppers, kale, and lettuce. If you prefer to plant directly outdoors, it's best to wait until after Mother’s Day (May 11) or when nighttime temperatures consistently stay above 50°F.
The Garden Center is one of several immersive learning spaces at South Seattle College, alongside the Arboretum and the Northwest Wine Academy, which features a tasting room open Thursday through Saturday,1 – 6 PM.
Visit the Garden Center at the north end of campus, open Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM – 3 PM, year-round. Come explore, support student learning, and take home something beautiful for your garden.
