Earn While You Learn: Work Study Job Opportunities

Keeping a college running takes teamwork. From welcoming visitors on campus to checking students into the Wellness Center, there are people working behind the scenes everywhere you look. What you might not know is that many of those roles at South Seattle College are filled by students just like you!
On-campus jobs give you the chance to earn money, build professional skills, and gain hands-on experience while staying close to your classes. One student employment opportunity is called Work Study. If you qualify, you will see a Work Study award included in your financial aid package.
At South, Work Study positions are available across campus in a variety of departments. Current openings include roles such as Anatomy Lab Assistant, Financial Aid Office Assistant, Human Resources Intern, Mail Room Assistant, and more.
A Student’s Perspective
This summer, student Razia Jalal landed a Work Study job as a Social Media and Communications Assistant in South Seattle College’s Communication and Public Information Office. Here is what she had to say about her experience:
Why did you apply for the position?
I wanted to start working toward my future career goals of working in media even before graduation. My dream is to be a voice for women and humanity, and I am trying to make that happen by preparing myself.
What experience and skills did you gain from working as a Social Media & Communications Assistant?
I feel more confident and comfortable now because I had a great manager. I got to experience working with Excel, photographing campus, and doing some videography at college events.
What would you say to other students who are thinking about applying for a Work Study opportunity?
Try to do your best in this job and use the opportunity as a chance to improve yourself and your professional abilities.
