Completion Coaches are Here to Help You Graduate!

Graduating students

You come to South Seattle College with a goal in mind, whether it’s transferring to a four-year university or entering the workforce ready to start your new career.  Before that next step, however, you’ll want to complete your degree or certificate and graduate!

That’s where South’s Completion Coaches come into play, and they are here to help you every step of the way.

Completion Coaches Jessica Horst, Megan Nord, John Phillips and Erin Barzen are your advocates and experts as you near completion of your program.  Their role is to help educate, support and encourage you to reach your goals and graduate on time.

Here are a few great services they provide:

  • Coaching students through academic, financial and/or personal struggles
  • Graduation planning and assistance with applications
  • Educational planning, academic advising, and degree audit evaluations
  • Transfer planning and preparation
  • Financial literacy and scholarship applications
  • Referral to employment, childcare and funding resources
  • Referral to internal college resources, such as tutoring, Disability Support and Veteran's Services, and referrals to external community organizations

To make an appointment, call the Information Desk at 206-934-6684, email our Completion Coaches at southcompletion@seattlecolleges.edu or visit their website to learn more!

Completion coaches will also be holding graduation application events on April 26 and May 10.  More details to come as those dates approach, and you can follow South Seattle College on social media (FacebookTwitter, Instagram).

A bit of background

Completion Coaches are available thanks to a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant called Project Finish Line that focuses on helping students complete their certificate or degree program.  South is joining several other colleges from the Puget Sound Educational District in offering the service to students.

Project Finish Line's mission is to help create a “completion culture” at South, so that every student has a clear pathway to graduation and their next career or education step. Completion Coaches understand that navigating college can be just as tricky at the end as it is when you first start, and want to help you achieve your goal and graduate on time!
