Northwest Wine Academy Fall Release Runs Nov. 17-18
South Seattle College’s Northwest Wine Academy will celebrate its 2017 Fall Release on Nov. 17-18, featuring the unveiling of new student-produced wines and complimentary tastings paired with creations from South’s culinary students.
The celebration begins on Friday, Nov. 17, and runs through Nov. 18 from 1 to 7 p.m. each day, and will be held at the Northwest Wine Academy (NWWA), located in the north parking lot of South’s West Seattle campus at 6000 16th Ave SW.
New wines in this season’s release include a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the first taste of NWWA’s latest offering, “Cascade,” a special Rhône blend celebrating the opening of South’s Cascade Hall, home to English as a second language, high school completion and healthcare programs on campus. All grapes used in NWWA student-produced wine were donated by various Washington state growers.
Throughout the Fall Release celebration, light appetizers produced by South’s Culinary Arts and Pastry & Baking Arts departments will be paired with NWWA wines. Friends and families are welcome, entry is free and those interested in complimentary wine tastings must be 21 years and up.
The Northwest Wine Academy is the first program of its kind in the Puget Sound region. NWWA’s classes are designed for students who are just getting a start in the wine industry and professionals who need information on current trends and to enhance their skills. NWWA offers classes in winemaking, wine marketing and sales, and food and wine pairing. Students can choose to take just a class or two, or a series of classes towards attaining a certificate.
Can’t make it for the Fall Release? Weekly tasting hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2-5:30 p.m.
